An Introduction
02:33
|

Welcome back
It's been such a long time
And I'm so glad to see you again
So just lay back and listen in
Forget about where you've been
And don't think about where you're going
Lets talk about where we are right now
Cause there's plenty to listen to here
There's more than enough to feel
And we've got just as much time as we need
To be
I can promise you that much

2. |
||||
I find myself in splintered sunlight
Under age old trees
Amidst friends from the past
And the air pulling through my nose
To fill my lungs
Carries the scent of blooming flowers
And fresh new leaves
And the warmth in the air holds a familiarity
That's not unlike the emotions
Bouncing back and forth between us
It is an easiness
That I often stop to miss
These days while sitting in silent rooms
Unsure of what to say or do
|
||||
3. |
||||
Waking to a warm breeze
Floating through my window
And carrying the sounds
Of birds chirping and wind chimes
Stretching and breathing in
The smells of spring
Pollen and sunshine
Floating through my window
To the sweet promise of good things to come
|
||||
4. |
||||
Sipping coffee
Slipping in and out of daydreams
Somewhere else
The clouds still passing by
Keeping rhythm
With the ripples in the water
Up and down
A light breeze
Sifting through each blade
While footsteps pass on by
When suddenly
The ships rolled in
A steady eye on the horizon
Camo on their bodies
And guns
Ready to unload
You'll be assured
The waves from the ship
Keep the ripples in a
Steady formation
|
||||
5. |
||||
Forty five degrees
Through the floor
Where the angelic landscapes
Lay bathing in the warmth of light
Moving mountains
Of fog set aglow
Layered parallel to the surface
A snapshot
Millions of hills
Forming a flat horizon
|
||||
6. |
||||
Warm lights glimmering off of raindrops
That form to fill the air
Rivers flowing off of the roofs of cars
Waterfall to the gutter
Strangers staggering on canes
Through the flooded streets
Begging for a meager swig of beer
Before returning to their trudge across the city
Siting parables from the Bible
With clothes soaked in water
But he says
The farmers ain't complaining
|
||||
7. |
||||
A thousand tiny orange and white lights
Stretching their arms across the rippled surface
To meet my eyes
On a windy ocean pier
Flying with the birds into the horizon
A thousand tiny ripples in the water
The west side reflecting the new black night sky
While the east slowly fades
To the orange of the city lights
Jumping with the fish out of the water
Sunset
The moon over the city
And the stars over the sea
Wave crash
|
||||
8. |
||||
Oh how the time goes
How it shapes us
We used to stand
On the roof in circles
Out the window i circles
Back then
We used to stand together
|
||||
9. |
||||
It's quiet here
Made for another time of year
When the oceans breath becomes warmer
And home to bodies
That the water pulls to and fro
Now the moonlight reflects a blanket of snow
Over the sand and sea shells
At the bottom of the blanket
The line where the tide hasn't met the snow yet
We walk along the waterside
Savoring the biting touch
Of chilling ocean breezes
Then walking down a shoveled path
On a wooden street
I've walked so many times before
But never like this
The shops don't sell
Nothing I want anymore
But it's just as well
They've all closed their doors
For the winter
|
||||
10. |
||||
My family we will survive together
And when we're in for windy weather
We'll huddle up and stay warm
Waiting out the hours of the storm
And dancing in the streets on Christmas Eve
Surreal as it seemed I was at peace
Walking the streets together
As we did so many years before
The fog was as thick as our connection
A dome over our hazy heads
And energy dancing around us
Riding the waves wherever they may take us
